Friday - Saturday

Friday - Today was the last day of semester for us kids at Xavier Charter School, and everybody was totally excited! After school I went home with Hannah Utley, who is in my grade and also is one of my best friends.
We stayed at her house for awhile and watched Jeff Dunham, with our other friend Audrey. We played with her little sister some, and listened to a ton of music. We took extra care in getting ready to go out, and we were going to Hands On. Which is a pottery shop in downtown Twin Falls.
Hannah, Audrey, and I each painted a cup with the date and our names on them, so that we'd always remember that great Friday evening. The cups were painted pinks, and blues, and purples. We're going back to pick up the cups on Tuesday so that they can sit in the kiln for a couple of days.
Hands On was amazing, but afterward we had to take Audrey home because she couldn't stay the night with Hannah and me. We walked Audrey up to her door, and I got to see her house, which was very nice.
I was completely wiped out when we got back to Hannah's house, so we got into our PJ's and sat in the kitchen drinking Fresca and eating Lays chips. We talked about school, and a lot about her little sister Falon who is the craziest three year old I've ever met. (She even attempted to strangle me over fruit snacks once...)
I plopped down onto Hannah's polka dotted bed, and went fast asleep.

Saturday - Hannah left with her grandma early in the morning to stay with her in Utah for the night, and for awhile I was home with her Mom, Dad, and little sister. My mom was on her way to pick me up, because I had a basketball game that afternoon.
I got home and Malkom was curled up in his kennel fast asleep. Malkom smelled so bad I almost gagged when I came through the door.
He'd obviously gotten into something.
I cleaned out his kennel, and got ready for my game.
The game was really tough, and we only won by a few points but it was really FUN! I scored points and was a real help to my team, which made my parents really proud.
I was totally pooped after the game and came home to lie down and watch TV.
Then I had a cheese quesadilla and ate a cookie.
Malkom and I went on a walk and he was a little devil! Haha. Oh well, he's working on it. Someday he'll be good on his leash, but right now we'll have to wait.

A Conversation We'll Remember

I've finally seen little Lili... Tonight I was hanging around in my room cleaning out my drawers when my mom called me from our computer room.
Melanie and Mckenzie Hunsaker had gotten a hotmail account and were instant messaging us from CHINA!
Kenzi and I talked a lot about how much we missed each other, and a whole lot about China. Meanwhile our mothers looked over our shoulders and laughed as we talked about our precious dogs, (me: Malkom - Kenz (Her brittany spaniel Lady)
Then my mom and Melanie talked for awhile. Mom and I were watching Melanie Mckenzie and Lili on webcam, and I could see tears falling slowly down Melanie's face as she talked about all her emotions as she picked up her new baby daughter, and how all the people who loved her in China were sad to see her go.
My mom laughed and cried too, but told her it was a blessing for Lili to be able to come home with Melanie to a family, and the orphanage and foster families would only last until she was 14. Melanie joked with Mom and called her Dr. Tracey.
Then I left for dinner, and Melanie, Mckenzie, and Lili left for breakfast at the same time!

We miss them all a lot, and we hope they're enjoying their precious time in China.

Malkom's Story

Malkom was playing outside one crisp Friday night when my mom was trying to leave to visit my grandma. Malkom played around in front of the car, and my mom was very slow and very careful not to hit him. Our driveway is really long, so it was taking forever to leave, when suddenly Malkom disappeared. Mom was worried that he'd come back, so she began to gain speed. Then her car bounced, and she said to Cole and Nick in the backseat, "I hit him."
She got out onto the road and turned the car around.
I was upstairs typing when it happened, and suddenly I couuld hear cries and whines coming from outside, and I thought that maybe an animal had gotten hurt. So I ran downstairs and out the front door. Malkom was running towards me whining, but I thought he wasn't hurt. Then he turned around.
His tail had been completely stripped of skin, and all that was left was a bloody bone. Even on his bottom no skin remained. I started to cry, and scream for my parents to call a vet. They couldn't reach anyone and it was really late at night.
Finally they got a hold of Valley View Vet Clinic in Twin Falls ID and we jumped into the car and rode the fifteen minute drive into town.
The car was covered in Malkom's blood, and it seemed like the drive took forever.
Finally we pulled up to the small clinic and jumped out of the car. We led Malkom into the back room and the vet immediately said, "We're gonna have to amputate it." I began to cry buckets again.
The next morning we picked up Malkom. He was groggy from blood loss, and all he could do for the next week was sleep.

Now Malkom's stitches won't stay closed so he's gonna have to grow new skin. Malkom's tail will never have hair on it, or rather, his stub.

But he's doing better, and just got off his antibiotics. We think we're gonna buy some more so that he doesn't get the open wound infected.

PeTs

We have four pets, and most of them are pretty decent. Except that one.... Here's a small profile on each of them.

Sophie (Sweetest dog ever) - Sophie is a golden retriever and the sweetest dog EVER! She's a complete darling, and all of the neighbors love having her visit them on a daily basis. She's just recently started losing her vision, and we don't know if she'll be as active in a few months, or nearing her next birthday on August 18.

Tiger (Old, grumpy, but still the best) - Tiger is an old calico. She's really bitter towards animals not in our family, and is really fat! We love having her snuggle up close to us in bed, because she's always so warm! Her hobbies are eating and sleeping.

Patches (Small and curious) - Patches is our youngest cat who loves to explore. We can't even leave cupboards open in our kitchen because he'll climb inside and most likely get himself stuck. Patches is blind in one eye due to terrible conditions where he was born. His mother was a stray and gave birth in an alley behind a building. Some person was nice enough to bring her and all of her kittens into a Vet Clinic where they were treated. The ones with diseases were fostered out to families so that the kittens could become more social. That's how we found Patches, and we absolutely fell in love with his perky personality. ( His favorite hobby is chewing on people's hair... ????)

Malkom: Malkom, oh my goodness. You've met the one exception. I'd begged my parents for a puppy for about eight years, and finally on June 23, 2007 at around three o' clock in the afternoon they brought me Malkom. Malkom was big for an eight week old puppy, and I could barely carry him around in my arms. He's a Labmaraner which is a breed that is Weimaraner x Lab. So the months went by and Malkom got onto thin ice with my parents. Malkom is very smart and can open certain types of doors. Our yard isn't fenced and neither is our neighbors, and over the past couple of months Malkom has taken a Razor cell phone, a housephone, numerous shoes, hedge clippers, a lighter, tons of toys, an unopened bag of pig ears, and shin guards. That's only what he's taken in the last month and a half!!!
Another problem with Malkom is that he's really curious, and loves cars. About a week ago my mom was pulling out of her driveway, and the worst thing in the history of puppies happened.

H.E.L.L.O

Sorry I didn't write a little more about the family before I got started, I was just a little excited that's all.

I'll tell you all about my family, and why their so great.

Chris (Dad) - Is an attourney at law, criminal justice professor, and trying to become an author. His #1 hobbie is golfing, and he's really good at it too. He works five days a week and attends church with the family. He doesn't really approve of pets, but he's softened in to ours, except one. But I'll get into that later. :) Dad is tall, and spends a lot of his time cheering his three children on at sporting events, and sitting in his make-shift office in the dining room. Working out his dreams. He's an amazing person and was voted best teacher at the college a couple years ago.

Tracey (Mom) - Mom works in Education at the college, and her office is actually only down the hall from my dad's!! :) She works five days a week, and attends church with her family. Mom is totally amazing and cleans almost every spare moment, Cole says she can probably smell messes. She edits my dad's books every night, and gives him advice on how to make them better. She is in love with most of our pets, except for that one exception that Dad has problems with too... hmmmm.... Mom is an amazing person as well, she helps all of her children with everything, and is a wiz at helping with homework. We all love her very much.

Cole (Oldest Brother, Bookworm, Handsome) - Cole is the smartest 14 year old boy I've ever met! Cole's into basketball, books, and friends. All the girls swoon over him at school... :) and he always has A's in all of his classes. Cole is very active in our church, and works his hardest to attend every week. Cole's a great example as a student, and an older sibling inspires his younger brother and sister everyday in every way. Cole loves to draw and is really into art. He never gives up also. Cole plays basketball with his team twice every week. He acutally had a game tonight, and his team did really well. They always win but their sportmanship could use work. Cole tries his hardest to show etiquette at every game. Cole is a goofball, and makes everybody laugh.

Lexi (Me, Middle Child, Only Daughter) - Theater is my life. I love to write, sing, dance, and act. I have a real talent for singing, though I've never taken voice lessons, and I count it as a gift from God. I'm currently the leading lady in the musical the Music Man, and I'm totally excited. My brothers and I go to school at Xavier Charter School. It's the most amazing school in the universe. I love dogs. They are one of my favorite subjects as well. I have a dog, and a puppy. I'll tell you about them later. There's so much to say about them it's overwhelming!! Well anyways I'm on a basketball team, and take piano lessons from an amazing teacher. My family is the best. And I know they love me A LOT!! :)

Nick (Youngest Child, Totally charismatic) - Nick, I can't even begin to describe him. He's only eight years old, but is the most stubborn and silly kid that I've ever known. He's not so much of a joke teller, but kinda like a stand-up comic. He just pops jokes off, and has the whole family laughing. People are drawn to Nick, and he has lots of teenage friends, most of which say he's the coolest little brother in the world. And most of the time they're right! ;) He's into basketball up to his ears. Basketball is his favorite thing in the world. His favorite team is the Los Angeles Lakers, and his favorite player is Kobe Bryant. (Our whole family seems to center around the Lakers...) He loves cats, and has one of his own named Patches. He got Patches for his seventh birthday. After he'd fostered him because he'd been sick. He fell in love with him and Patches illness led him to have one blind eye. Nick is really cool.

Lili is Here

Lili is here finally with her new family! Check tfhunsakerfamily.blogspot.com to learn more about her. She's from China and is coming home in less than two weeks with Melanie and Mckenzie Hunsaker! We're all so excited and I'm sure she'll love her new home and warm up to everybody immediately! It's almost like a second birthday. We love you all and are so happy for you guys. Hope you trip is going well.
